greenery-filled christmas ornaments
Happy December, y’all!
I don’t know about you, but I just want to spend all of my days making Christmas crafts. I love this time of year! There are just so many fun ways to spruce up your home, or decorate for festive parties! Fun ways to jazz up the tree or a party include a pom pom garland or tassel garland, some paper chains, or of course, some DIY ornaments!
Aside from decorating the tree, I also like to use ornaments for other things. I was brainstorming ideas for a Christmas dinner we will be having later this month. I am a big fan of place cards (such an easy way to add interest to the table) and I wanted something simple but somewhat sophisticated. Naturally, I went to Pinterest. Before I even typed anything, I saw some gorgeous greenery-filled ornaments and knew I could make my own! And thus, this idea was born - and now I have beautiful place cards! I may either tie these around napkins, or just let them roam free on the place settings. I’ll post the final outcome :)
Warning - this post is my easiest yet - and I’ve had some easy ones!
Let’s gather our supplies (a full list is linked at the end.) You’ll just need some clear plastic or glass ornaments, some faux (or real!) greenery, and some scissors! And if you’d like to personalize for placecards, gift tags, or just a nice memento, you’ll want a paint pen.
Cut off a piece of greenery from your faux or real greenery bush. You will only need about 2”.
Take off the ornament topper (just pull and it will come right out!)
Very gracefully (kidding here) shove the greenery into the ornament. This may take some squishing, moving, shaking - whatever you gotta do!
Replace the ornament topper. You can be done here if you’d like! You now have gorgeous-yet-simple greenery-filled ornaments! How pretty would these look in a large bowl on a table? Oooh oooh ooh! I’m doing that.
You can also personalize these, or add a fun wintry quote. I used a gold Sharpie Extra Fine Point Paint Pen (oil-based) and practiced my handlettering on these bad boys :) I will be using them as place cards!
